Out and About in the AreaThe celebrated French writer George Sand visited our hamlet and included it in one of her novels - Francois le Champi. You can see the house where she lived with Chopin at nearby La Chartre. Walk in the footsteps of Claude Monet and other famous Impressionist painters at Fresselines and Crozant. See more artworks and paintings at Gargilesse and the museum at Gueret, or explore medieval Aubusson with its fascinating museums and where the art of tapestry-making is very much alive today. Make your own pilgrimage on one of the routes to Saint Jacques de Compostelle in Spain which passes close by our house en route to Limoges and its world-famous porcelain. Within our own commune visit the famous Tuillerie de Pouligny where you can watch potters at work; participate in one of their workshops or admire their seasonal art exhibitions. A short drive away you can see the wonderful wolves or watch the stars at the planetarium, then get completely lost in the labyrinth at Gueret. The B&B is placed in the heart of the Pays des Trois Lacs, where a wealth of activities awaits you - lakeside beaches, canoeing, horse riding, rock climbing and over 150km of marked walking and cycling trails and 3600km of river and 400 hectares of lakes for fishing trout, carp, roach or zander. In the autumn, La Creuse is well renowned for its hunting of wild boar, venison and pheasant or, you can simply search the hedgerows and woodlands for wild mushrooms, sweet chestnuts and walnuts, then sip an aperitif by a roaring log fire and enjoy a relaxing dinner. |
